RealD and Timewaying Announce Strategic Partnership to Advance Premium Cinema in China
SHENZHEN, CHINA & LOUISVILLE, COLORADO, USA — [06/17/2026] — Timewaying, a leading cinema technology manufacturer in China, and RealD, a global technology provider for the theatrical exhibition industry, today announced a strategic partnership to support the recovery and sustained growth of China’s theatrical market.
Under the agreement, Timewaying and RealD will collaborate to develop and deliver premium cinema solutions tailored to the requirements of China’s exhibitors. The partnership’s offerings—including 3D projection systems and cinema screens—are designed to provide high performance, reliability, and competitive economics.
The partnership draws on each company’s intellectual property portfolio. Timewaying holds invention patents related to 3D LCD display technology and a utility model patent for 2D/3D auto-switching. RealD holds granted invention patents covering light-doubling 3D projection technology used in dual-beam and three-beam optical systems. The collaboration includes cross-licensing of applicable technology from each party’s portfolio. The companies have also resolved prior intellectual property disputes between them, enabling both organizations to focus on innovation, service, and market growth.
