The 7-meter HeyLED screen changes the equation overnight. With its ultra-fine 1.4mm pixel pitch and a physical resolution of 4788×2160, image clarity reaches unprecedented heights. There are no visible pixels and no light reflecting off a surface — the light is the image.

“It’s not an upgrade. It’s a different kind of cinema,” says Alessandro Saviotti, who runs the Barberini together with his siblings. “When we first saw it, we realized Rome was looking at the future.”

Ultimate Image Quality: DCI HDR1 and Unprecedented Pure Black

The real limitation of traditional projection isn’t resolution. It’s black. Or rather, the inability to produce true black — which strips images of depth and makes colors look flat.

HeyLED completely breaks through this limitation. The LED panels feature a special black surface treatment that effectively suppresses ambient light reflection, achieving an astounding 60,000:1 contrast ratio. This means the darkest parts of the image are vastly deeper than what a standard projector can achieve. Black isn’t gray anymore — it’s an absolute, velvet black that makes colors jump off the screen with startling intensity.

In terms of color and brightness performance, the screen boasts a 16-bit LED internal process and perfectly delivers DCI HDR1 standard 300 nits peak brightness with a 12-bit grayscale. The 300 nits brightness is approximately six times that of a conventional DCI-standard cinema, meaning the picture stays vivid and uniform even with the house lights on.

Revolutionary Structure and Patented Front-Maintenance Design

The HeyLED screen is equipped with Timewaying’s exclusive patented front-maintenance technology, revolutionizing how LED cinema screens are serviced. Technicians only need a suction cup tool to remove a panel from the front, taking just 2 minutes to replace a single panel without the need for specialized tools or large-scale dismantling.

More importantly, once a panel is removed, the system immediately stops playback. This mechanism is fully compliant with DCI anti-piracy standards, ensuring content security is strictly maintained during maintenance operations.

In terms of installation, the screen requires no rear maintenance space, freeing up valuable cinema real estate. Depending on the venue’s structure, it can be flexibly installed either wall-mounted or suspended. The P1.4mm pixel pitch reduces the minimum viewing distance to just 3 meters, significantly improving the cinema’s space utilization and allowing more seats to be placed in the optimal viewing area.

Low Power, High Durability: Guaranteeing Long-Term Performance

Based on Cool LED technology, the HeyLED screen operates with extremely low power consumption and requires no additional cooling system, effectively reducing the cinema’s operational costs and energy footprint. Furthermore, the LED panels utilize COB (Chip on Board) technology, making them highly resistant to physical impact and moisture, which greatly enhances reliability in complex cinema environments.

The screen is designed with a lifespan of over 10 years. To ensure long-term image stability, Timewaying has prepared a special calibration program for HeyLED DCI screens. A professional calibration performed every 5 years not only significantly extends the screen’s lifespan but also guarantees that its brightness and color remain perfectly aligned with DCI standards.
